Peter Wetherall has retired

Peter has been a key part of the West Coast legal scene for many years, but it’s now time for that chapter of Peter’s life to come to an end.  Peter is retiring.

A lawyer since 1981, Peter Wetherall, along with David Carruthers, established Carruthers & Wetherall in 1984.  34 years later, a fire destroyed their premises and at that time Carruthers & Wetherall were invited by Hannan & Seddon to make a temporary home with Hannan & Seddon.  Two years later, that arrangement became permanent when Carruthers & Wetherall became part of Hannan & Seddon.  2021 saw Hannan & Seddon amalgamate with Corcoran French, with offices in Christchurch and Kaiapoi.

Peter has been a valued member of the Carruthers & Wetherall / Hannan & Seddon / Corcoran French teams and we wish him all the best for a happy and fulfilled retirement.  He’ll be greatly missed by his clients and all who have had the pleasure of working with him over many years.  Peter is moving away from the West Coast, moving closer to family a few minutes north of Christchurch.

Hannan & Seddon / Corcoran French continue to look after the legal needs of Peter’s clients, from all 3 of our offices on the West Coast and Canterbury.  If you’ve previously worked with Peter and need some legal assistance in the future, please give us a call and we’ll put you in touch with the lawyer who is best suited to assist you with your need.  Concerned about your deeds?  Don’t be. We continue to hold those (for our West Coast clients, held in our Greymouth office) so they are on hand when needed.
