Corcoran French Free 1 hour employment seminars for you in March

Back by popular demand, we’re running free one hour employment workshops every morning from Monday 22 March 2021 through to Friday 26 March 2021.  Get in quick and register to book your seat.

Our employment team will present on a different topic each day that week.  You can register for one or more days depending on what’s of interest to you.  Take your pick from the list below.  On all days we will have factual scenarios and good practical tips for you.

Start time is 8am at our Christchurch City offices at Level 1, 166 Moorhouse Ave.  Finish time is 9am.  We’ll supply the coffee and a light snack from 7.45am.

The topics for each day are as follows:

Monday - Employment Agreements and Variations

Not all employment agreements are created equal.  Many employers found their agreements lacking in last year’s lockdown. We’ll take you through important clauses that should be in every employment agreement, reasons for them and how to rely on them when needed.  With recent changes in employment laws, the pandemic and financial uncertainty, now more than ever robust employment agreements are needed.

Tuesday - Exiting Problematic Employees

We’ll explain how to successfully exit problematic employees.  We’ll work through how to justify and defend your decisions and get your process right in all of the more usual circumstances of employee misconduct, poor performers and those off on long-term sick leave.

Wednesday - Flexible Working and Sick Leave

Many employees got a taste for working at home during lockdown.  We’ll cover flexible working policies and arrangements, what to do when faced with a flexible work request, the options available under the law and how to practically respond.  We’ll also look at the benefits of flexible working, employee mental health and the new laws on sick leave.

Thursday - Restructuring and Redundancies

More job losses are on the horizon as economic uncertainty continues.  We’ll explain what good restructuring and redundancy processes involve, how to go about them safely and common pitfalls that lead to successful personal grievances and how to avoid them.

Friday - Health and Safety at Work

Health and safety in the workplace continues to have an increasing importance in New Zealand.  The courts have ramped up their focus on unsafe work practices and larger fines are commonplace.  We’ll work through the main requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, how to understand your obligations and those of others at the workplace and improve your safety and legal compliance for your employment.

Bookings are essential

We’re limiting numbers each day to a small group to promote questions and answers, networking and an informal atmosphere.  Places therefore need to be reserved.  Feel free to register for as many days as you like, subject to numbers, but we suggest you do so quickly.

There’s plenty of parking in our on-site car park.  We’re looking forward to seeing you there.
