About Richard
Richard joined Corcoran French’s litigation team in 2015. Prior to joining Corcoran French, Richard worked as a litigator for Inland Revenue, firstly in its national office and more recently in Christchurch. Richard also spent two years with the Crown Law Office in Wellington as a member of their tax & commercial and criminal teams. He graduated with a BCA and LLB from Victoria University in 2005, and completed his LLM(Hons) through Auckland University in 2011.
Richard’s areas of expertise include:
- Commercial litigation of all types including shareholder disputes, contractual disputes, and general debt collection work
- Insolvency, including acting for company liquidators, creditors, and directors
- Commercial lease disputes
- Tax debt and other disputes with IRD
- Trust disputes, for both trustees and beneficiaries
- Estate (will) disputes
- Sports disputes
Richard’s approach to client problems is to look for practical and cost-effective solutions, and he is experienced in utilising alternative dispute resolution options such as mediation, arbitration and expert determination to help clients get the best outcome in any particular case.
Richard is a keen outdoors man and enjoys hunting, fishing and tramping. He can also be found on the golf course when time permits.
